About Us

  • The Department of Anatomy aspires to become the best at teaching the structure of the human body in a clinically relevant context. The anatomical sciences are important disciplines for understanding medicine and it form the foundation for medical studies. We strive to develop and promote medical knowledge by encompassing education, instruction, research and attitudes. Our mission is to provide a strong foundation for new beginners by teaching basic science of medicine and surgery. 
  • The infrastructure of Anatomy department consists of Histology Practical Lab with slide preparation room, Dissection Hall with attached bone room, Embalming room and tank storage rooms, Library cum seminar room, Demonstration rooms, Research Laboratory, Museum, Artist cum modeler room, Cold storage and Bone Saw room, and Burial ground. 
  • A great deal of dedication and effort has been put in at the department since its inception. Teaching of anatomy is accomplished by the way of small groups teaching and learning, lectures and demonstrations by using audio-visual aids and student seminars. Practical training is imparted by dissection and demonstration on cadavers and prosected specimens, histology laboratory practical and DOAP (Demonstrate, observe, assist and perform) sessions. Frequent assessments are conducted in the form of spotting exams, OSPE and Viva voce. Our faculty are well versed with CBME competencies and their knowledge is frequently updated by CME cum hands on workshops on medical education and guest lectures. 
  • Cadaveric dissection is the integral part of the undergraduate teaching of all medical students to update their dissecting skills. It helps the student to learn topographic localization of organs in the body. Our department provides embalming facility with well trained staff. We aspire to impart teaching and learning and produce excellence in the field of histology, osteology, gross anatomy, Neuroanatomy, developmental anatomy, clinical and functional anatomy, biological anthropology and medical education. The department has adequately equipped research laboratories to conduct both applied and basic research.

 

  • Mission:  The department of Anatomy aims to impart a comprehensive concept of Anatomy so as to provide an understanding of the anatomical basis and clinical correlation of disease presentation and management.
